CYBERFEST MIAMI POSTPONED
Coolworld postpones the last stop of the Cyberfest festival series. The festival scheduled to take place in Miami on November 24th at Bay Front Park, has unfortunately been postponed due to the recent World crises. The highly anticipated festival drew over 25,000 dance and music lovers to last years Florida stop in Melbourne with stellar performances by Carl Cox, Run DMC, Bad Boy bill, KRS One, Prophecy and many others. This year the festival was expected to have an attendance of over 35,000 and the last minute postponement came as a huge disappointed to the festival producers. Coolworld founder Sason Parry states, " Cyberfest-Miami was going to be an amazing experience and would have been the biggest dance festival to hit the State with an amazing line-up. We thought about scaling down the event or moving it to December, but we knew that everyone in Florida was expecting a massive festival experience and we didn't want to compromise the quality of the festival and let anyone down. The recent World crises and New York attacks has effected the industry as a whole and we didn't think it was the right time for Cyberfest-Miami and a lot of artists and people are very weary about flying. We are rescheduling for next year and this will give things time to settle and more time for us to plan an amazing festival."
The festival series first touched down in San Francisco at the enormous cow Palace Coliseum and had a 20,000+ sold-out attendance turning away over 10,000 dance enthusiasts that wanted to attend and was voted best dance & music event of the year with amazing sets by, Crystal Method, Kevens, Skribble, Bad Company, Wish FM, DJ Bizz, Dyloot and Planet B, . The Texas stop wasn't as lucky as Govt. prejudice struck against dance culture and kept the festival from taking full form and almost 25,000 Texas dance lovers were turned away at the gates and only 4500 diehards made the way past the blockades. Coolworld, with the help of the EM-DEF and the ACLU has vowed to take legal action against the county and agencies responsible and was awarded a huge victory in court on Oct. 12, when Texas District Judge Jon Delaney ruled that the actions and injunction were illegal and not justified and threw the action out of court. Attorney Scott Maclamore stated, "this is a big victory and the first step in fighting back against this form of discrimination." This ruling gives Coolworld the foundation needed to file a claim for damages and the opportunity to restore good faith amongst dance and music lovers nationally. More info on the Texas case will be available soon with updates at coolworld.com.
Coolworld's next event scheduled for florida will be the annual Miami Beach festival around the WMC in March 2002. It hasn't been decided if the Ultra festival produced in conjunction with DVOX magazine will be the event taking place or if a new event will be created. More info to come soon. Coolworld's next event is the annual Planet New Year festival taking place this year in San Francisco at a massive location to be announced soon. Coolworld has big plans for 2002 with plans on taking Cyberfest 2002 to at least 6 markets. Selected Cities that may have an opportunity to be a part of the Cyberfest festival experience in 2002 are San Francisco, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, Denver, and possibly New York, Buenos Aires or Detroit. Complete info on all upcoming events will be available at coolworld.com.
