Hey yall... I still have a few questions about some of the ins and outs... I can't find anyone who can tell me straight.
For example, Someone said you should have publishing rights. Someone else said you don't need them. Another person told me to make sure I get a lawer.. On and on... What should you do and what do you have to do so you won't get fcuked!? If you can Understand that..

Post a Demo CD to yourself before you send it to anyone. That way you have the date on the postmark and if any trouble comes along, you have some hard evidence. Only the cost of a stamp

Yeah, but make sure it's sealed and stays that way
Ok I herd of that before. Mailing a copy to yourself so it has the post date on it. But what about publishing rights? Someone mentioned BMG ? Is this a mandatory thing? And what would you loose if you didn't have it?
Work it out!

well at first you should have to cover yourself so post a cd like others mentioned...now this is for the case that nobody is involved...in the case you sign a deal with the track check the contract that it you still have the copyright and NEVER accept to be taken of the copyright...the label may ask you to sign a publishing deal as well so be very carefull about this one one specific...if you sign to a publisher - this is different form signing for a label - then you should keep the copyright too
