Help me please

Hey guys, just have a question about the turntables I just bought.
I got a pair of Numark TT 1650's, just to get into mixing. And 1 of the tables sort of wobbles the pitch (every few seconds it'll speed up or slow down for no reason). I was just wondering if there was anything that I could do about this or should I just take it back to the store. I just didn't want to return it and end up it being something stupid that I did wrong. Dont' wanna look like an idiot, lol. Thanks.

is that model direct drive? If not, you're gonna have a difficult time regardless of what you do. If they are drfect drive and the pitch is wavering, take em back.

btw, how do you know that the pitch is wavering? Can you hear the speed change or are you just having difficulty keeping beats on?

The 1650s are direct drive.

If it is doing it too frequently (and if you say every few seconds), probably take it back and show them. I have second hand 1650s, and one in particular does it every now and again (always seems to be mid-mix ), you can hear it just wobble momentarily (always faster), but its not a huge problem, and it does it quite infrequently. They're second hand so I've always just put it down to wear and tear.

The important question is what zizack asked, are you listening and noticing it wobbles the tune, or are you noticing as you beat match?
If its while beatmatching and you can't keep thebeats together, no offence, but its probably you.

yeah, i guess it is always faster, but yeah, it's a noticeable change even when just listening to a track. and yeah, it happens at least every 5-10 seconds. so i guess i'll take them back.
thanks

i'll disagree with that, i just got rid my 1650's, and had the same problem, although wasn't noticable while listening to a track. I would've get the tracks beatmatched, and keep it playing until just before i needed to cue it off just to make sure it was matched perfectly, then when i cued it and started to bring it in, it would still be off.

DJ tomer, with your problem, i would take it back to the shop, but IMO 1650's don't hold pitch that well, I haven't got used to my MK5's yet as i only got them last wednesday, so can't be too sure whether its me or not

Well, I did buy the 2 I have seperately, and the first one I had works fine (as far as I can hear anyway). I have a feeling the second 1 might have been used as a listening station for a bit before I got it, so that could be the case, or maybe just a bad model.

I'm gonna be really pissed if these turntables don't work decently for at least a couple of years since I purposely went with direct drives even though I have absolutely no money right now just so I wouldn't have to deal with this problem. Not to mention that without using the internet, my resources are pretty limited in Calgary, and the only other direct drives that are close would be the Stanton S-30s' which I really didn't want to try.

i had those at one point in time but even being brand new they still fluctuated in pitch by themselves. Invest in TECHNICS, I thought I would never get them but I did!
