Fundamental Islamists believe Israel won in '67 cos they had God on their side!
Just had one of my lectures on the Middle East politics and my lecturer said something really interesting (well, I thought so anyway!)
Apparently, some of the founders of political Islam (Sharia law etc) say that Israel won the Six Day war because they were more truer to their religion than the Arabs were (at that time the Arab nations adhered to the socialist secular ideology) and Israel won as a result (either the Israelis were rewarded by God or the Arabs were punished for following secularism)
One advocate of this is Sayyid Qutb who is actually the 'grandfather' of political Islam and is the man believed to have inspired bin Laden
Well, I thought this was an interesting little fact anyway!

Thats totally true. They believe in the same God. In the Bible whenever bad things happen to the Israelites its because they start to become secular and disobey God and vice-versa. Islam has the same beleif.

Another interesting fact I learned today was that there are only two countries in the world that stated that the West Bank of the River Jordan belonged to Jordan and that was Britain and Pakistan...no Arab countries did

I wouldn't be suprised if your lecturer is a zion-lover like many these days. And what you are saying isn't true at all. go look to Al jazeera or other stations they say always the same thing. The zionists won because of the USA. And if the USA would stop support the zionists they would be destroyed in one hour.
In the first place Sayid isn't the grandfather of political Islam. Many muslims in the world don't agree with his point of view. to be clear Ousama or sayid are not the Islam. Many muslims support them because they defend their muslim 'brothers and sisters' against the evil. It's called 'zionism'

I think you are missing the point, I didn't say Israel won cos of God, I said the Islamists said that.
And what difference does it make whether or not most Muslims agree or disagree with Qutb? I'm sure most Muslims do not agree with Qutb but he is the modern emergence of political Islam (do you know what political Islam is btw?)
