go tiago monteiro! we know you can do better than being last in every test session, 128741389463 seconds behind everyone!

seriously though, he's likely to improve, and the only thing that matters is that schumi must not get the title again or at least get some decent competition. cause F1 has exceeded the reasonable limits for boringness. i hope montoya gets the title, and that williams has a decent car, i like both drivers.

I was waiting for this thread.

I'm very interested in F1 this year (as always, but I'm looking forward to this year more than maybe the last two or three). I really hope Williams can get their act together after a disappointing (by their standards) year last year. I really like their driver line up this year, Webber and Heidfeld. I made the comment in last years thread that Heidfeld was probably the most underrated driver in the field, so I'm glad he's got a decent drive. And Webber obviously, good driver and an Aussie.

We will finally see the potential of the Toyota's with two top line drivers, and I'm glad Christian Klein got the drive with Red Bull who are showing some potential in testing. First time I've seen that McLaren in pictures, be interesting to see how effective that fork wing on the centre spine is, see if it gets picked up by any other teams. Also Juan Pablo Montoya, I like him as a driver and a personality (I don't like his personality, but he is a personality), but I don't want him to do too well this year after abandoning Williams.

This year is probably the best looking year in recent times, a really good chance of good tight racing.
Some interesting rule changes this year, one set of tyres for races, only able to be changed if damaged, and one engine for two races. I wonder how Toyota will go with the engines, they were really struggling in some points last year to get them to last one weekend last year.

i've been wondering why the FIA implemented this rule. surely the risk of getting a puncture is much higher. to me it seems that, while trying to improve racing on the track, they reduced the security.

as for the drivers, i don't really have any favourite, i just hope we're going to see some tight racing. Renault and McLaren seem to have a good car. let's hope they are able to challenge Ferrari.

^^
Harder compounds required = less grip
One set for a race = different driving style needed,

Both of these would in theory lead to closer racing and reduced speeds, especially cornering. Lower speeds in corners = more overtaking opportunities and also safer.

How were doing the Williams in tests? I can't remember hearing anything of them except their drivers are Webber and Heidfeld (most underrated driver in the whole F1).

I hope Alonso win some races this year, he deserves it and the new Renault seems like a great car. If he can't, then I hope that anybody but a Schumacher (nor Michael neither Ralf) win the title this year.
