vs versus featuring.. what's the difference?

A lot of times I see tracks listed such as this:

Jurgen Vries vs Andrea Britton - Take My Hand

What does the vs mean? Versus? What's the difference between vs and featuring? (ft.)

Just trying to figure out the nomenclature.

You've got a mislabled MP3, as the correct title is Jurgen Vries Feat. Andrea Britton:

To answer your question, there's no rule between what they mean. In most cases, "Feat." is used when there's a vocalist in the track and "vs" is mostly used when it's a bootleg of 2 tracks ut together, although it often goes either way.

"Vs" can also be used when two producers work together to make one track, iirc

Erm...eat your words......

I have the original white....... signed by Andrea when she did a PA at one of my residencies:

anyway- vs is normally where it has been a white label bootleg, but then released officially- thereby giving both artists due credit and royalties.
Its bascically a way of giving two artists credits for the same track without having one relegated to just a remixer.
Feat. is normally where its a guest vocalist, perhaps on something that was big underground as an instrumental.

The thread starter said "Jurgen Vries vs..." which to the best of my knowledge it was never released under.

So you know the word 'nomenclature', but you're unsure of what 'vs.' means? You sir, are a strange, strange person.
