Best time for the main DJ to play at an event

Thought this might be an interesting topic.

In two weeks Timo Maas is playing in South Africa & he's rumoured to be playing from 3am - 6am. With another international DJ, DJ Remy playing before him. Obviously Timo is the drawcard, but is that the right time?

Should the big international DJ be playing earlier, like 12 - 2 or 1 - 3?

Thought?
A.

It depends on the time the crowd usually gets in the club I think.

Normally in Holland they put the biggest dj last, but last weekend in The Hague, they put PvD from 3 to 6 and Remy from 6 to 8. But I think they did that because they expected most people to leave earlier than 8 am.

I think they should put the biggest dj last because by the time they hit the decks, the other dj's made you so enthusiastic that that last dj will make you explode i hope that metaphore is clear to y'all

It all depends on how many DJ's you have and how long their sets are going to be. If there are 2 DJ's then obviously the better DJ will finish the set. If there are 3 then u might want the best DJ to be in the middle where he will pickup from the warm up DJ and then just drop a peak time set. I remember when Sandra Collins, Oakie and Graham spun where Oakie played after Collins and Graham finished the set off.

I think around one or two is the best time. The last major event here in Adelaide, Ferry only played at bout 2.30. The place was mostly cranking at around 1, so i think that wouldve been the best for him to play. He only finished playing around 5ish, and many dickheads had already left by that time, what a disappointment.

I'll go with InsomnEac... somewhere between 2 and 6... Sometimes it's not so cool to be the last dj, because people are leaving, or are too tired (depends also on what the dj before did)

Depends on what kind of DJ. If it Mauro Picotto, dark music, I would prefer to hear him late, like no earlier than 3 but if its someone like Tiesto, uplifting/epic. I would like a little bit earlier.

In general I think 2:00 is the best time.

see...adn then theres Canada(or calgary in specific)

Our clubs CLOSE @ 3 am BY LAW. Most of em close earlier(like 2:30) so IMO the best time for a DJ to come out is @ 11:00-12:00

Otherwise, my well spent money is for not.

stamper you really need to see some more big dj's. you keep going around saying how good ferry was - you seem to be the only one.

i reckon most people left cos they were only there to see anthony pappa play...

i couldve played about 3/4 of ferry's set myself. he wasnt exactly cutting edge. i was considering leaving when he started playing things like the legacy and that damn dance valley track!
