Nice finds man.
I'm not 100% sure on this, and somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but due to the nature of digital mixers using faders, they don't pass sound threw them like analog faders, due to this, I don't believe they have to be as high of grade as analog faders are, digital faders are just a controller for the onboard CPU to find out what your doing, and due to this, you can replace the digital fader with anything else that could also be used as a controller, and I think in order to mod a analog mixer and keep it sounding good, it would require much higher quality components and would probably be harder to do due to the craftsmanship of modding it would have to be of a higher grade than modding a digital mixer.
I could be completely wrong though, I've never looked into any of this really, this is just going off of my common sense of electronics and shit.
EDIT: oh yea, this is why that modded X1500 still sounds great but uses Radioshack pots for controlling the fading, they won't be passing sound threw there for don't need to be amazing components, analog is different, don't think you'll find A&H parts in your local Radioshack.
