Is it possible that you just don't need to meet new people cuz you know too many already? |
"You can never know too many people!"
My answer is No I don't think so.
One thing is to meet as acquaintances and a total other to make them your friends. I think when out at parties or big events....it is so warm and welcoming to know and greet many people and extend a smile or a hello (even if you fudge or cough while saying the name wrong) then to just walk around and get lost in the crowd after a few mere handshakes. Perhaps it's my warped view but I think I like making people feel like they matter and are important, even as acquaintances. FYI..sometimes those acquaintances can be a real pick-me-up when your feeling down
BTW...close friends usually understand if you couldn't say a personal goodbye in a crowded room.
So my solution to the goodbye dilemma "Nat" is to just locate yourself in a certain spot where more of your acquaintances and friends are and say loudly...."Goodbye Everyone". IMO if someone thinks it's rude... then they are pretentious and covetous to begin with...and not worthy of being regarded as a good friend...plus... you'll cut your goodbye time into less than half (Wewhooo, that's more time for you to find your car, rush home and find the comforts of a clean and safe washroom....j/k).
Of Course the only exception to not wanting to know too many people is if you have something to hide, are afraid of people or think people are out to use you (paranoid anyone?). If that's the case to begin with, don't be a TA...just end it now and walk away...hide...become a geeky hermit.
LOL...geeky hermits make good friends too... and they are great ppl when u need a computer fixed...cuz to them fixing it is a turn-on, and they'll do it for cheap...like $0
