Tonearm Help

I just baught a pair of technic 1200s and im having a very frustrating problem. It seems like nomatter what i do i cant stop it from skipping. It even happens with my cartridge that was in my old tt that worked %110 fine. Iv read the past forums and tried just about everything, the weights are correct and height and iv tried things that i know wouldnt normaly work but no luck.

The thing i have noticed is that the very head of the stylus is moving along but the casing of the actual stylus and whole tonearm is still and then this causes the little needle to go as far as its suspension alows then it flicks back. Its as if the tonearm is too stiff or something.

Please help me hear. Iv finaly got my techs but i cant use em!

dose this happen all the time? dose it happen at one spot of the tonearms travel or anywhere on the record? is it brand new or used? if it was shipped to you used, the shipping or the origional owner could have broke a bearing on the tonearm

It mainly happens on certain parts of the records but it happens alot and just yesterday they where fine. I picked up the tables myself from someone who lives not even an hour away. The odd thing is that when he had them playing at his house they where fine although i didnt realy pay mutch attention to them when i think about it.

It could be possible... definitely make sure you understand the settings. Especially because different needles work differently for each turntable.

For my Track IIs I use +2 weight on the tone arm, 0 anti-skate, and 1.5 for the height.

The key to balancing your stylus is to make sure the needle rests right in the groove (duh) and make sure the tone arm is almost completely parallel to the record. Don't use too much weight either.

Secondly... make sure your stylus is clean and also NOT BROKEN. I would try out a new stylus before I went jumping to conclusions about the tone arm because a stylus will be much easier to replace.
