Love from Above and Sensation Black review
Haven't been posting for a while, since I did not have a chance. Here is my somewhat late review.
I arrived to Berlin around six in the evening. Got my event tickets and went to the hotel where Gavin, JP and Magic7 where staying. Somewhere around 9:45 we headed out to Columbiahalle. When we got there, Rene Vaitl was spinning some decent prog. I was not too impressed by the stuff he played though. Then Edgar V came on. Played some good tunes I reckoned. He was wearing Hustler t-shirt, lol. Sometime then, we met up with James. After Edgar, Sasha came on. He was playing in his style, a little boring for me. After him, PvD started playing. Next time someone says that PvD does not use drugs, I will slap that mofo, lol. He was not in good shape that night. He played some really good tunes that night, ranging from all timeframes, but his mixing was mediocre. Later during his performance, he would fade out the track and then bring it up again 30 seconds later. Wtf? Well anyway, not bad overall. Then I listened to the beginning of Marcos's set, but it was 7:30 in the morning when he came on. He played some euphoric sounding trance, good stuff. Had little adventure with gettting my stuff from the hotel room, but turned out good anyway.
Then I took the train to Amsterdam. Arrived there at about 11:00 o'clock in the evening. I forgot wee-t's number (TA with whom I was supposed to meet-up), so I went straight to the Arena. When I got there, there were three humongous lines to three entrance gates to the arena. Well after waiting for a while, I managed to enter. It was sort of a backstage area with all the food and service courts. Then I entered the Arean itself. Oh my God!!!! There was an ocean of people. Yves Deryuter was finishing his set. Not bad at all, lot of cool hard trance choons. After him, Tom Harding came on, but I was in backstage area when he was playing. Sounded decent to me. Then the crazy Japanese man himself, Yoji Biomehanika started playing. Simply mindblowing set. He also was quite a performer on stage, too. Absolutely fucking crazy. After that I believe they played megamix. Mostly hardstyle tunes, but really really good ones. Lasted for about hour and a half. This was the time when not only the dancefloor was full, but almost all the seats were full. All you could see is people dressed in black. After megamix, Dana and Luna took over the decks. Amazing set. Really opened my eyes to harder electronic music. The guy after them, The Prophet, was half decent. I started leaving when Deepack came on, it was about 5:30 in the morning. I was so tired due to two days of no sleep, I went directly to train station. I will be back to Amsterdam for this whole weekend though. There is another interesing show coming up with Rank 1, Jochen Miller, Cor Fijneman and couple others. I might go to that.
I had the best time of my life at those two events. It was nice meeting new TA's and seeing the ones I already knew. It would be hard for me to come back. Unfortunately, US has nothing even close to offer. I will miss Europe.
Till later,
Stan
