How to clean slipmats?
My cat pissed in the floor right next to two sets of slipmats! He didn't piss directly on them, just next to them but they still smell. Should I just wash them with some detergent and lay them out to dry? They're pretty colorful and I don't want them to fade. Thanks for any help.

hmmmm
well- when ive cleaned them before, they never ever go flat again.
They always dry crinkled and looking like a popadom.
Even if you leave them to dry under something heavy, they will only stay flat for a short while after removing them.
Last time I left it under a pile of 300 records to dry for an entire week...... and it crinkled after a few days of being removed depsite it being completely dry.
Best bet it just to get a damp cloth and lightly clean the surface with it. Unless anyone else knows another method>?

If they were felt ones that you washed did you try and iron them afterwards?
Neoprene slpimats would just stay the same after a wash I'd think though.
Mabey a tea towel and good ironing on the non printed side would flatten them out again? dunno as its not something I've ever tried but thinking about it I would imagine that the heat would also make the slipmats a bit more slippy if you ironed the underside which would also be a bit of a brucie bonus.
If you don't wanna risk that and the cat has not directly pissed on them get some nice strong aftershave and give em a good spary or coating with that.

Think there's any danger of the chemicals in a product like aftershave damaging my records? I though about using a febreez type product but I'm worried about my vinyl.
