[NEWS] Pair Questioned Over Club Assault
A MELBOURNE man remains in hospital with serious injuries after a brawl outside a city nightclub early today.
Two assailants allegedly punched and kicked the man, who suffered head and chest injuries.
Victoria Police will charge two men on summons over the assault.
Police interviewed and released on summons a 23-year-old Roxburgh Park man and a 20-year-old Reservoir man in relation to the assault.
Paramedics were called to the Barcode nightclub in the Crown Casino complex shortly before 7am (AEST), and treated the victim, aged in his 20s, for half an hour.
The man's condition deteriorated and he was admitted to Royal Melbourne Hospital in an "altered consciousness state", ambulance spokeswoman Liana Cross said.
"He had been assaulted but his condition could be attributed to a possible drug overdose," she said.
A hospital spokeswoman said the man remained in a serious but stable condition.
A second man also received minor injuries.
