I'm looking for a good quality sound card that I can use to record my mixes to the pc. At the moment I've got a shitey SoundMax card & a cheap maplins sound card audio cable. I get this hum when I playback my mixes

I want to pay £100 at the most for the sound card & the necessary cable needed to connect from my mixer to the sound card.

Could anyone advise? Cheers.

dude i had that hum problem too. i thought i was going to have to upgrade my soundcard for it to go away. but what you are hearing is a ground hum loop. you need to go to a place like radio shack and purchase yourself a ground loop isolator. i got mine for $20 US Dollars. it has RCA cables on both ends, and is only 3 feet long or so. So you will need a longer RCA cable, and 2 rca connectors to connect the two, and then you need a cable that goes from the 2 RCA to the 1/8" plug to go into the back of your computer. i am sure this will solve your problem.

get an audio card with balanced inputs, xlr or 1/4" trs. This will get rid of the humming... as long as you use a balanced out from your mixer.
