buzzing noise when recording

hi guys
ive got a big problem, ive had my mixer linked up to my mac for a few years now with no sound problem at all, the other day i plugged it in to record a new mix and when i plugged the jack into the mic hole on my mac a huge buzzing/humming noise blasts out the speakers which never happenend before and it records too. i have'nt changed anything around at all, ive checked the earth leads on the decks and their secure so its not that, i was racking my brains, its not the mac either becuase when i turn it off it still makes the noise i even plugged it into my mp3 player and it does it with that so i know its not the mac.

so guys what could this be, phono to jack lead it not always used and it rolled up when not used could be its just the wire itself.

please help

check to see if it's coming through on your headphones... and make sure the headshell is fully screwed into the tonearm... unscrew the headshell, and touch the connectors on ur tounge briefly to give them a bit of moisture to make better contact...

could just be that you're cable is worn out mate. unscrew both ends and check the earth connections, if the plugs are moulded, you either need to buy new connectors and solder them on , or buy a new cable

I do have this annoying strange stupid humming as well. Guess where the problem is? The antenna to the Cable TV. As soons as I unplug it from the wall, the humming goes away. Appearently the grounding is all messed up in this building. I don't know if that would solve your problem though...

also check to see if it's coming through one speaker or both, try swapping channels (so ur left tt is plugged into channel 2) and see if u can isolate the humm to one channel/speaker/rca socket...

from what i can gather ur mixer has multiple outputs and it's coming through on your mac and speakers so it's not anywhere in the mixer output's that's the problem...
