Tiesto Bashers

While I can understand your disliking of Tiesto as a producer. I can't understand how you can bash Tiesto's live sets. His mixing is awesome and he has created some of the best sets I have ever heard (Live @ Damsquare, Live @ Amnesia). Yes, whenever anyone reaches any sort of "fame status" they will be called sellouts. And no, I am not a huge Tiesto fan that has every single album and track the man created. I have the Just Be album and a few live sets. I am just getting sick of everyone feeling the need to say "Tiesto Sucks!" in order to feel like you are part of the underground elite!! Just shut the fuck up about Tiesto sucking, cause me and you both know that you have jammed out/or are still jamming out to his work. Thats all.

First off, no, he has really really shit mixing, I've seen it with my own two eyeballs and heard it with my own two ears. And its not like he tries to mix well but has trouble, he just fudges it alot and knows that people like you couldnt recognize a good mix if it slapped them in the face. (or else you wouldnt say he has good mixing)

Second, I think he sucks because he thinks hes God.

Thats not elitist. Its the truth.

In my opinion, the people who bash Tiesto probably have better musical credentials then you do. That isn't the point though.

I am a huge Tiesto fan, from his Innercity 1999, to the Magik series (my personal favourite). I think he is a sellout, and because of that, doesn't have time to put in the time into what he loves to do. Or at least lovED to do. Don't takt the Tiesto bashing so personally, your not listening to bad music if you like Tiesto, but next time you get a tiny spark of a feeling in your head, think it through, and save another useless Tiesto thread from going public.

While there are some 'bashers' I think you're confusing some of them with people who know that there are many dj's with better mixing skills, who don't need to play a tired playlist or infront of a concert hall full of people to be respected. As far as 'popular' goes, yes he is up there, as far as his set/ability go, he's never been amazing technically, even his best sets have mismatched beats or poor cuts/transitions, he just pulled it off back then with the tunage.

P.S. I really dont mind that you like Tiesto, thats great, I have many friends who do aswell, but he deserves any sort of critisism and more so. When you are on top, you are expected to put out.

Actually, it was his live sets, not his productions that ruined him for me. I gave him two chances, both times he sucked.

I could personally care less if he thinks he's God, so long as he still delivers, which as I stated earlier, he hasn't both times I've seen him.

I am not saying that Tiesto is my favorite DJ/Producer by any means, cause he isnt. And yes, every single set the man has put down hasnt been perfect as far as the technical side goes. But they are still good sets. Right now there is a huge PVD craze because he is now the #1 DJ. And yes, I do also like PVD, I have also heard him make mistakes mixing (like Tiesto). Yet, there are 100x more Tiesto sucks threads going around than PVD sucks threads. My point of this thread wasn't to stick up for Tiesto. I started it because I am sick of people joining the forums who like Tiesto, then seeing that most people on here hate Tiesto, and then joining in the Tiesto bashing to fit in. Its fucking annoying.

I am the only one out of all my friends who likes Electronica. They are all into Hip Hop/Metal. I once heard my friend tell another friend that he was more "hardcore" than the other one. Its a really silly claim. Somehow, I see the Tiesto hatred evolving into that.

That's it! Some people (including me) don't let (relatively) bad transitions ruin my evening. When he pulls out tracklists like at Disneyland (16-04-2005, I know long time ago), I would allow for him to play the entire tracks sequentially

Good point.

At least a "magik period" fan has something to base their defence on!

A few quick points from a real fanboy:
1, his tune rotation is practically the same as most of the other djs in the top 100. It really gets my goat to see bitching because he is playing the same shit as 6 months ago... its a generalisation because the bitchee hasn't done the homework on the subject matter, taking for granted he is still playing the ISOS tunes.
Yes La Noche is a good example, but the others are long gone. He seems to spring clean his cd-map once or thrice a year despite what some people might think.

The be-lated shift to cd's has also meant he has a bigger selection of 'shizzle' to pick from than ever before. Proof: we get far more ID's in his sets now from unknown sources and obscure labels that he wouldn't have touched before.

There is no longer an argument against a DJ spinning a track out too long. Almost every DJ is going to be guilty of that at some stage of a year, when they have some hot shit/mix cd/artist album they want to advertise & promote to the world. Unfortunately in Tijs' case... this happens to also include 2-3 tracks that are 2 years old.
The majority of his "new" fanbase can only recognise those tunes when they go to a gig. Only emphasising that he appears to only play these records. Actually there is always some new and exclusive shit in his sets. Yet its only when a dedicated fan like myself goes, will these ever be unearthed at a later date.

2, The ego. Is completely undefendable even from a dedicated fan's point of view.

3, the mixing... is actually improving (YES CLOVIS!) since LA... at least he has found time to actually practice a little on CDJs now... and doesnt wreck everythng like 6 months ago.

That he has completely alienated the fanbase that actually propelled him above every other DJ despite the obvious flaws in his technique & character - its fully understandable most of the regulars in here are bitching on his ass the majority of the time.

And for that - the topic/starter really should've thought twice about making such a lame attempt to defend something they clearly need to learn more about first!
