have you tasted 'my forked tongue'?

a taste of 'my forked tongue'

btw... just wee bit cantankerous right about now... but thats ok...

so... i have been threatening to post a mix of acidic, underground dopeness... this mix was a reflection... well, more like a negative of the uplifting, bouncy commercial sound of limoncello... newtons third law of motion as appiled to music if you will.

'my forked tongue' is just that... a pinch of honney and venom from my subconscious. a mix i made a few months ago, revisited after my last friday at cathode ray. and i found it to be just amazing. i hope you agree:

tracklisting

'my forked tongue'

filur - you & i (trentemoller rmx)
tonepushers - daydreamer (chris fortier rmx)
nic fanciulli - squirrelled VS new york city survivors - world of madness (d kristopherre's mad-ass'id' mashup)
chelonius jones - middle finger music (booka shade rmx)
speedcats - speedcats (roel h rmx)
jack addicts - illuminous skies
angello & ingrosso - 82-83 VS josh wink ft sweet pussy pauline - track 9 ((please mr kristopherre may i have some more re-edit))
moby - dream about me (sebastian ingrosso rmx)
freaks - creeps(you're giving me) ((steve bug rmx))
fischerspooner - just let go (tommie sunshine's brooklyn fire mix)
nitzer ebb - murderous (phil kieran rmx)
juliet - ride the pain
NIN - something i can never have

hope you enjoy.. i know a few of you that def will...

thanks for listening

glad you thought so... its been a long time since i mixed a rocker.

and it opens easy because i dont believe in coming out swinging... to me, its all about developing a feeling, a growing, changing sensation. and to just throw down bangers makes it all the more mundane... at least to me. its the evolution thats exciting, its the change that makes mix charged... at least to me.

but i am so glad you enjoyed, i too was beginning to think i couldnt do it

thanks man. i will try to be insightful here..

sorry it took so long to reply here, been busy as hell. you know how it goes.

absolutely loved this mix man. very diverse selection but it still has a 'complete' felling. especially emanating with your style, which i really like. your style is very apparent in your mixes where is seems you can express yourself best, and those tend to be your best.

really liked the intro track, a good mellow track to build from and it very nicely gives you a feeling and forshadowing of the mix to come. it's one of the harder things to do with a mix to find the right intro track that gets things started the way you want and also gives the listener a representation of the entire mix. A+ on this end.

next track goes perfectly with the first track but this transition is one of my least favorite in the mix because i think you fade-in a bit too late and too little when you could've easily blended the two tracks more as they are quite similar imo. pretty much all the other transitions were spot on, so this was a pretty small gripe.

the mashups were done well. i'm not too familiar with most of the tunes so it was hard for me to tell exactly how and to what extent the songs were blended but i suppose that's a good thing as everything sounded smooth and groovy.

the mix gets very good with some of it's trippy, housey energetic pay-offs.

speedcats - speedcats (roel h rmx)
moby - dream about me (sebastian ingrosso rmx)
freaks - creeps(you're giving me) ((steve bug rmx))
fischerspooner - just let go (tommie sunshine's brooklyn fire mix)

were some of my favorites.

the end gets a bit weird with nitzer ebb - murderous (phil kieran rmx) and juliet - ride the pain. interesting tracks but not so sure how i liked them at the peak of the mix.

good finish, classic tune. makes a good addition to the mix. i'm not so sure if when i'm listening to this again (and i will) that i will stick around for the last tune though. it doesn't seem like it was part of the mix, if you know what i mean.

overall very awesome housey, groovyness. love everthing except the last bit. will definately kick this one around a lot.

cheers.
