Who do you listen to while working out?
So tell me, what's in your MP3 player/discman/walkman/decks/ghetto blaster/phonograph when you're burning the calories?
I entered this thread in the Montreal Forums a while back (hey TOTAs, take a peek over there every now and then) and got some interesting feedback:
Preach - Relic Mix Compilation (popular choice amongst MTLTAs)
Deep Dish Essential Mix live at Creamfields
Ferry Corsten Live @ Aria, April 15th 2005
I also listen to the following while I pumpeth de iron - I'm actually more of a househead but I gots to listen to techno & trance for the gym:
Satoshi Tomiie - Global DJ Broadcast WMC 03-08-2004
Paul Oakenfold - Live @ Gatecrasher (this will get you jacked)
Tiesto - Live at Club Matrix NYE 2003
Steve Lawler & Erick Morillo - live @ PACHA 2004 (five-hour set, house)
Above And Beyond - Trance Around The World 101 02-21-2006
Armin van Buuren - A State of Trance 03-03-2005

Last gym I went to played pretty good beats. Therefore, no need to to take and I-Pod or discman.
They played alot late nineties trance classics

'Sounds like my work gym, the reason I bought an MP3. I work for the federal gov't so more than half the ppl are over 40 and sweat it to Gino Vanelli et al.

nothing at all.
I like hitting the gym when there's no one else there...or only a couple of people.
it's my meditative/introspective time...very relaxing and rejuvinating...one of the few times when music actually annoys me.

Lately it's been Saeed Younan, Joe Drust, and John Do, but I usually rotate new ones in, because this is my time for listening to all of the new stuff.
A 1.5-2 hour workout 4-5 days/week allows me about 7 hours to get these damn things into my ears.

yeah, that sometimes works for me too but in an empty gym with no music. Ironically, music also allows for introspection, meditative for some as well.

true...
maybe it's my backlash for the awful Galaxy radio they played at my old gym...I must have heard f**king "Satisfaction" and "Shiny Disco Balls" every goddamn time I was there. I quickly grew to hate both songs
trance while doing cardio is good...I found myself practically dancing on the eliptical trainer or treadmill more than once, lol...but now I just lift weights and prefer quiet.

At the moment, it's Fergie's Essential Mix from Global Gathering 2005, or a James Zabiela Essential or Kiss100 mix.
When I'm in the rock mood, various Tool songs.
