Personally, I like the mix, but the playlist has quite something in common with older PvD Sets, doesn't it ;-).
We all know sets from PvD and Tiesto and the songs they play. It is very difficult to create something "new", I know. There is only a "a limited number" of tracks a trance DJ can play. But however try to find a personal style which someone can distinguish from others. Mixing and transitions are good. But would you be able to do them live in front of a crowd?

Hey Jaroquai,
first thanks for the reply, I really appreciate it!
Yeah and u've guessed right, I got in touch with trancemusic through PvD and Tiesto so I mostly listen to their sets and they inspired me to do this mix. Can't fool a pro, huh?
As for the transitions and stuff...u are right again, it's all "home-made" ... I don't think I could do that in front of the crowd, I mean, not with that quality. Have to practise much more, but if everything goes right I'll get an external soundcard very soon...I think, then my live-mixing-quality will get better....I hope
Maybe then I will post a new mix!
Thanks again for your opinion, wish u a good night!
Greets,
DJNoob

I'm just a professional listner, not (re-)mixer. Therefore I really appreciate your effort. The critique is based on my listening experience ;-).

Hey Noob. This set could definitely be way better. But first, let’s touch up on the technical side of things. I noticed I had to mess a lot with my volume when listening to your mix which can only mean one thing: work on your volume leveling and gain. On a similar note the 2 Kyau vs. Alberts tracks that you used are in mono and the sound quality overall is horrible. I can’t tell if it’s poor equalizing on your part or you have bad encoding software; either way fix that. Moving on, I didn’t notice any beatmatching errors so a big pat on the back for you on that regard.
Now let’s shift focus to the art, that is, deejaying. I have said this many times before, but dj’ing is a lot more than slapping two tracks together insync. There are certain skills that you can’t learn on a technical level. It’s more of a gift and being able to take people on a journey, learning crowd control and their reactions. Things like that can’t be taught. You either have it or you don’t. Another aspect of deejaying is the music. You have to learn your tracks characteristics such as where they break, where they start, drops/gains, melodies, effects, harmonics, and so forth. In a nutshell it is the ability to maintain a great build and flow. Once this is established you’ll notice certain tracks don’t go well mixed together and do not compliment each other (flow). You’ll also realize that the energy of certain tracks differ from one other and that you have to adjust accordingly (build). All in all work on what I’ve said and maybe you too can be recognized amongst other of TA’s stellar dj talent such as Stu Cox, dj metatron, and others that I’m missing at the moment.
