HappyHappy CD Decks Pricing Investigation!

ok as some of u may know from my other threads, im currently looking at buying sum new cd decks. my mind has been set on the cdj 200s. until i looked at agipro. i did a quote with them and they came out with $680 which is like £350, which is actually the cost of one over her in the UK. of course i will get taxed etc but it much still work out cheaper than the £700 i would pay for them over here.

so this got me thinking, looking atthe other cd decks on agipro it cam apparent that the denon dns3500 and cdj 800 mkII were both $699 list price, so a pair of them in pounds is around £750 and thats with out a quote. of course that probably wont be all il have to pay, but again thats the price of a pair of cdj200 here and if i bought the denon dns3500 and cdj 800 mkII in the UK i wuld pay well over £1000 for a pair so u can see the saving.

on the upper extreme the cdj 1000mkIII doesnt reap such a big saving. the $1300 list price converts to around £1400 and we pay about £1500 here.

so here are my findings :-

cdj200 = £350 saving
dns 3500 & cdj800mkII = £250 saving
cdj1000mkIII = £150 saving

now again il stress there could be alsorts of charges i could encur, and i culd get the cdj200 easiy by selling my current decks and i wuld easily have the money to pay for them, but as i was looking at spending £700 anway and i culd just shell out for the dns3500 or cdj800mkII for that price, or am i just being silly and i should stick to my original idea as i have no real need for vinyl play etc... and i dont think il even consider the cdj1000.

so really what im after are any people from the UK that have had stuff shipped over from the US and from AGIPRO wuld be even better. wot kind if u did get charged how much was it etc.. or maybe u got away scott free, dont worry i wont tell on u! all stories would be helpful. and people from other countries that have had stuff shipped from overseas ur stories are greatly appreciated too.

ok thats my little scientific/geeky investigation over. hoping some of you guys can shed sum like on a few of my issues.

Thanks Alot!

the whole point of the investigation was to wot my budget £700 culd reach! that being cdj200 over here but in the us its the cdj800 or dns3500. i dont reli wanna painfully go through ebay tryin to find cheap cdj1000 gcoz u never reli find any. and they wuld still go way over £700 where as i culd lay my hands on sum brand spanking new cdj800mkII. the cdj1000 dont offer me much more than i need that any of the other decks offer me!

I brought back three cdj1000mks from new york with me.....and i can tell you now i saved a hell of a lot more than £150 on each.

Shipping them is daft- you will get fucked for customs and vat- and they will get battered in transit potentially.

if you must have them new, then get a cheap flight over and pick them up, and have a holiday to boot.

On the other hand you can get a used cdj800 for under £300/£350 if you look around, and a 1000mk2 for around 550 again if you look around. start on ebay.

yeah u may of saved more. i only used on provider and i also said that that its only the list price so the quote should be cheaper.

if i had the time or money to fly to the US then i would but i dont. also im not very kneane on buying used equpiment when i can get the new stuff marginally cheap. of course there are things like vat and shipping which i constanly spoke about at the start. i was just wondering if anyone else had taken this route. im not gonna jump into sumthin without knowing what i culd possibly be charged.

i do like the idea of buying things off ebay if i can get sumthin cheap, ive bought quite a bit off there, its just i have to sell my setup in order to pay for them and for me to bag a fantastic offer on ebay i need the cash to pay for it. so there for i would sell them first and be left with no equipment for an unknown time, which isnt reli possible for me to do. I THINK THEY CALL THIS SODS LAW! lol

ive kinda got my eye on the cdj800s at the min but i may just be being greedy and im thinking maybe i shuld just stick to my first idea of cdj200.

i hate dielemas!
