yer, most shops look the same, there is only so many ways you can set it all out, and make sure its all working ok.... and quite easy for the user to navigate

I think it sucks. Learn to resize thumbnails and not have the browser automatically resize them.
ie a 100x100 thumbnail should not be 50+k in size.

Totally agree on this just loading the page took forever because of the thumbnails not being resized but rather loading full.
