CDJ-200 or CDJ-800 MKII

I've been producing trance for about 6 months now and am starting to get into DJing. I recently purchased a Pioneer DJM-400, and obviously need two cd players; as my mixer is only hooked up to my two computers. Anywho, the question is: which cd players should I buy; the CDJ-200 or CDJ-800 MKII?

I'm really not planning on doing any scratching, and am mostly going to be doing trance/house. Money's not really a factor, however if the CDJ-800 MKII has features that I'd never use, I'd rather not have it.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

well since your not gonna be doing any scratching i dont see why you should get the 800...ud probably do well to just save the money and use it for something else (either in the future or other equipment now)

800s have a larger jogwheel, slightly larger pitch increments. Not sure what else, the 0.05% pitch increments always put me off. Since you say money isn't a much of a factor, have you considered the 1000s? Best of both and a bit more.

If you want more info, do a search, there's been threads on this before.

Well, when I said "money isn't a factor" i was talking about $5-600, not $2,000... lol.

I've already got the Pioneer DJM-400, but what I was thinking of doing was using the money saved, and buying either an EFX-500 or 1000... then if need be, I could emulate a scratch.

thats a good idea considering how useful the efx-1000 is! although does your current mixer have an effects loop?? how would you set it up...bear in mind i dont know much about using fx units so forgive me if there's an obvious way around this.

Yeah.. that's what I'm trying to currently figure out. Theres 4 inputs on the djm-400, so I could split the signal out of each cd player, then have a switch box that selects which of the signal goes through the EFX. However this limits the amount of devices that you can hook up to the mixer.. thus is why I'm trying to come up with the schematics for a switch box that handles everything and sends it back out only using two of the four inputs on the mixer... If anyone knows of something like this, please let me know, because my head hurts.

maybe is there a way to route the signal through the master outs on your mixer through the efx processor and then BACK into your mixer through one of the channels??? i know this is a weird feedback loop and obviously you would only be able to use the effects on the master signal....i dont even know if this is viable sorry

reminds me of a thread i wrote a bit back

http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...ghlight=fx+loop

tbh id just stick with the djm400 effects (they're are pretty good) until ur confidant with them, then id start thinking about gettin an efx. ud benefit more from learnin a piece of equipment at a time rather than gettin everythin at once, u dont always get the full potential out of everythin coz u spread urself out thinly with masterin more than 1 piece of equipment.
