I am currently reading The Library of America's release of H.P. Lovecraft's Tales. If you are into horror, suspense, the unknown, the occult and the beyond (o.O), you might dig Lovecraft. His short stories are the direct influence for a lot of today's horror movies (Evil Dead, Dagon, Re-Animator, Beyond the Walls of Sleep, etc...) and is surely the inspiration for many of today's horror writers. I'm sure Koontz has borrowed from him before, especially with stories like 'Phantoms'
