U-haul trailers

Has anyone ever used one? I need one for my move (cheaper than a truck, plus I dont have to let anyone drive my truck), but it says on their site that the max recommended speed is 45 MPH.

I could chill at 55 no problem, but it's a 4 hour drive. Any experiences?

btw, I'm likely going to do it regardless, I just need to know if I should kiss all of my shit goodbye

Worst safety record of any equipment provider in North America. I'd recommend you rent a trailer from Ryder.

trailers with improper wheel alignment, or non symetrical tounge location will get a nasty weave at higher speeds. and judging by uhauls track record with maintenance, i wouldnt recomend traveling at anything over 80 - 100 kmph with any of hteir equipment.... Ryder FTW

I drove one of thier biggest trucks (litterly the biggest) with a trailer behind it from New Orleans back up to NYC about 2 months ago. I managed it ok at about 60mph for the majority of the trip. I wouldn't push much/ anything over that though.
I've also driven one of their smaller trailers in that past and wouldn't recomend pushing the small ones much past 55mph.

I would recomend inspecting the uhaul stuff VERY closly before using it.

*nusty does not wear sunglasses at night, they make it hard to see and you could trip

Hmmm...Ryder doesn't have one-way rental options.

I'll probably have to just inspect the U-haul trailer carefully.

take thier insurance just incase, i used uhaul, recently in toronto, but i wouldnt trust it...

so this way if anything were to go wrong the insurance can cover u, i think it costs like 15-25$ extra

their trucks here are have US plates, but mine was a short move only 20-25 mins away.

normally i choose national otherwise.

just go and check it out incase, do it in person...

I'll just be getting the trailer though, not the truck. It'll save on gas too. (I'm in NY)

I rent U-Haul trailers almost religiously... Some are in terrific shape... some arent... they are all maintained on a regular basis... i've only ever had problems with one or two trailers... when inspecting look at the chamber and castor of the wheels... any bends or severe dents in the tounge and the hitch... also tow it around the lots quickly while swerving... this will allow you to test to see if theres any drag or play in either wheel...

Also be aware that uhaul has a bad history of not keeping your rental there even if you have a reservation.

I have been screwed over by this in the past.
