The competition went great this weekend. 1 of the 4 DJ's I was suppose to play against this week never showed up so I just had to battle out 2 others to move on in the round. I rolled the highest # on the dice so I got to play the best time slot- 11:30 - 12:30 pm. The 1st DJ played a lot of Hard House and Hard trance , not my favorite. Pretty good transitions , but wasnt digging the track selection. 2nd DJ was a scratcher- hip hop stuff. Finally after 6 heinekens and 2 hours of waiting if was my turn to get up. The club was pretty full , but the dancefloor wasnt happening. I decided that it was time to bang it out so to speak- grab the crowds attention. I started the night with ROCK the CHOICE - from Joachim Garraud - A funky ass tune. Played a few breaks , but kept it overall funky for the hole hour. I thought i had the contest in my pocket half way through. Had the mic in my hand as well to keep the crowd dancin, but that didnt help. The contest went to the 1st DJ. I guess he had been a resident for that past few years. I was just some no name that entered the constest , so i believe it was all politics! I shouldnt be complaining to much , the judges were very polite and even asked if I would come back to paly. So i must have made some impression....I thank everyone for the input earlier this week , but I couldnt play cheesy tracks , its just nor not me ...

Hey dude,
Just noticed this and I have just posted by two pence worth in the other thread. It's not untrue to say that most contests are rigged when it comes to DJing. Even the more serious looking ones tend to lean to that direction. And even if they are not there are always dented egos who will cry foul and swear blind that they are rigged.
But that's just the thing, most competitions aren't really about if you win or not but the people you meet and the contacts you make. You should look at it as if you are a winner. They are giving you the chance to show what you really can do.
Cheers

Good attitude !
I guess I was just more dissapointed then anything, but o well like you said I was able to show what I was all about , and I think I did a hell of job doing it ! There's no better high then being behind the decks for a screaming crowd. That high is better than the cash prize personally.
