Ideas on a For Sale / Wanted / Trade section for the forums...
Ok.. I know there are issues with this, obviously I'll need a disclaimer stating that TranceAddict.com cannot guarantee the validity/quality/assurance that whatever is being sold is as was mentioned in the post/email correspondence/etc...
So if you send someone payment and they don't send you anything back that's not my problem - I'll allow Ebay links too.
#1) - Should I just keep it related to the sale of music equipment/vinyl/CDs(LEGIT - NO CRAPPY BURNED MP3s) or open it to other stuff?
#2) - Should it only be open to members who have signed up for at least a few months before they can post - to help diminish the # of ppl who might just sign up just to post in there with their ebay link
......err.. thoughts?

my suggestion
only vinyl and mixing tools (mixers and shit, altough i doubt anyone will bu it here, considering high risk and postal problem)
I'd allow only 'TranceAddicts' (or better) there (no juniors), for issues you stated ...
just my opinion ...

As for the precautionary steps, you can have a sticky thread up for TA's out there as problems like this are bound to happen....
Scenario : "A couple of people reported that some people didnt deliver the goods after being paid. "
THE ULTIMATE TEST:
If the guy doesn't want you to pay on delivery, then don't buy the goods. Payment on delivery is great, you are entitled to an insurance etc.. the seller has NO EXCUSE for not accepting that you CHOOSE to pay on delivery.
However, this method is more feasible for Ontario buyers.
For overseas sellers, that would be kind of difficult to manage.
On big ticket items like Turntables/Mixers/Eq, one should definately insist on insurance to play it safe.
My 2 cents worth...
I hope this really works out, after all this is a common place for all fellow TAs to gather for the love of trance and its components...
Cheers

i think its a good idea. we buy/sell/trade stuff between each other through the internet and the mail. it also gives us a chance to see what kind of items are available for purchase from people that live in the same city/region.
i think its best that we open it for music related items only. this is a music forum and it be pointless to sell anything other than music. we can also avoid more trouble/conflict if less unique items were allowed.
as far as who's allowed in, i don't really have an opinion. its probably safer for the buyer/seller if you only let long time members in there but i feel that might lead to some sort of elitism on the forums again.
overall, i think this is a nice idea. i hope it works well for all of us if it is going to be incorporated into this forum.

perhaps a silly idea,
but why don't you make a sort of SUBFORUM in the language dependant fotrums, and another forum for all of the regions that don't have their own forum, ...
and place the selling-buying-trading parts in there, ...
cause peepz are always looking for their stuff in their close environment ...
get my point ?? I'll tr clearing it up a bit more if you like ...

Good idea, but definetly keep it limited to vinyl/hardware/original CD's like you said. And just let anybody post, the mods can easily delete any spam and people can make their own minds up about who to trust.
And how difficult would it be to have some kind of ranking system setup like the auction sites do? So people know who's been good in the past?

Dunno if it will work or not, but id say have members who have been at least here for a certain number of months, and posibaly have some form of points system where good traders have a higher rating and bad traders get negative points

I've no comment as to what the items sold should be.
But, i think if you create a section visible to TAs only with a certain status. All "auctions" and "deals" would be made there, and not visibly to the average Joe surfing the net. That way you'll have a bit more control, but you'll have to deal with the spam issue
