Are you mixing in surround?

If so. MIDI is not surround compatible technically. You will not find a "Front/Rear Pan" CC.

The only way you get surround panning in MIDI is if the VSTi supports it and gives you a CC# that corrisponds with front/rear.

Otherwise... just pan front/rear on the VSTi channel, or pan front/rear on the input channel of the hardware synth. What's wrong with doing it that way?

Um? You open up the automation on it?

And find the surround automation controls.

You have to make sure Cubase is set up for surround mode though.

Hit F4 to get into VST connections. In the outputs section, click Add Buss. Then select "5.1" or Quadro/Quadro+lfe... it depends on your set up.

Then you'll be able to use surround panning. I'm assuming you've done this already.

Just look for the automation called "Panner X Pos. Right" and "Panner Y Pos. Right"

The latter is your Front/Rear pan.
