dissenting voice:
Allen & Heath Xone:62
or if you have the money, Xone:92
and then buy an EFX-1000 for effects if you want them.
why the fuck would anyone be a pioneer snob when A&H makes better mixers?

Check out the Ecler Nuo line, and Allen & Heath consoles if you want a good sounding mixer for maybe a bit less than a DJM 800. | While I prefer Allen & Heath over Pioneer, I baffles me how people continually say this when Pioneer is pretty much neck and neck in the number of club installs around the world with Allen & Heath. The DJM-600 & the XONE:92 are the industry standards.
That being said, the Elcer Nuo 4 or 5 are some I was going to recommend for a four channel as well. They also have the Nuo 3, which is what I was getting at when I asked how much you plan on traveling with it. If you are not going to be carting it with you & just plan on using the venue's gear, I just don't see the advantage of dropping $1500 on the DJM-800 simply because you aren't tapping into a club sound system. You won't hear the sound difference that people talk about in the new Pioneer.
Go with the DJM-400, Allen & Heath XONE:32, or the Elcer Nuo 3. The 400 is only a 2 channel, but gives you the same Pioneer quality & only lacks the extra 2 channels & MIDI mapping, and the XONE:32 & Nuo 3 are three channels to give you the extra if you are looking to hook up an 8-track, err I mean vinyl deck.... Either way, all three will give you a good mixer to pair up at home with your studio sound system & the CDJ-800's.
