If you just look at poll numbers, this issue alone has caused increased confidence in the current administration and Congress. It's kind of sad how the American people use this as a more important political barometer than so many other issues.
It's amazing how people notice this, yet don't notice how the Republicans with their corporate tax breaks and subsidies increase their tax responsibility more than they're saving in gas.
