I was wondering what are the best snowboarding places near NYC. I want to limit this to no more than a 4 hour drive away from the city. For instance, I've heard of hunter mountain but I don't know if it is any good. Also, I'm looking for a place that does rentals and teaches classes Thanks!

Bellaire Mountain.
Hunter is bigger and the trails are longer.
Both offer classes and rent equipment.
Buy yourself some used gear. Rentals are expensive and not worth it unless you have $$ to burn.

OKEMO!
do it. they are the only ones with more than 50 runs open in the area right now! they have the best man made snow in the north east... which this year is really important.
