Artist Lineup
---> Paul Oakenfold, Alex Gold, Liquid Todd
Liquid Todd opened up with some hard stuff ¡V I remember loving it ¡V and I was completely sober yet! ƒº
Oakie Sucked big time ¡V well in comparison of course ¡V I do have tremendous expectations from him. Finally the star of the night Alex Gold came on and tore shit up ¡V I have tremendous respect for this guy.
Saturday
ULTRA 4 Festival
@ Bayfront Park (301 Biscayne Blvd. - downtown)
12 p.m. - 1 a.m.
Got there around 3ish I think
Gatecrasher big time! ¡K the security didn¡¦t know what to do ¡V lots and lots of cops on hand¡K.pure chaos¡K finally the crowed stormed the gates that were crowded because of the attempt of the organizers to search every individual entering and let everybody in ¡V and just were ok with collecting tickets.
I personally got in without getting searched and my mate snuck in a Bacardi 151 (which I was so happily intoxicated later on) did not get searched by the security because well ¡V his bag had too much shit in it (particularly all the fruits and water we brought to survive this day-long rave)

Who I saw was:
When we got there at the main ultra amp theater
Carl Cox came on and instantly game me an energizing boost ¡V just tore shit up with his hard tech-house sound
After him came on Paul Oakenfold, who unlike the day before did his job well and I think even had a longer more melodic set (both times he had the volume level at mid ranges ¡Vat the highest ¡V at norm ¡V it was hard to hear some of the pitches he used) ¡V well cant complain about that ¡V oakie hates it loud.
Then came on Crystal Method and did a live performance¡K. I don¡¦t know didn¡¦t catch it got bored sitting at one spot and decided to roam around to other tents¡K.
Heard Deep Dish a little bit at hard house tent ¡V they were ok ¡V although I hate them so I walked on to other tents¡K by pure accident walked over to break beats ¡Valthough I¡¦m not the biggest fan I stayed and got my biggest surprise of the trip DJ Icey ¡Vlocal from Ft Lauderdale I think ¡V was tearing shit up ¡V a-ma-z-I-n-g - this kid got skills and I was knocked off my feet
He spun hard German sounding tech-house into raga ¡V all in a split beat and it sounded sooooo good¡K. Def check him out when-ever his in town (I remember wanting to see him at ultra¡¦s radiate in DC and missing him just because we got there late)
Walked around - went to cool world tent (they are the guys that organize this big rave in downtown Miami) music was old school and I saw some of the best break dancers I¡¦ve ever seen ¡V since the tunnel days¡K. I don¡¦t know if those boys are local or they were there visiting like me ¡V but they got style and skills¡K¡K¡K mad dancers there
Finally made my way back to the main stage and BT started his set¡K. Was whatever ¡V his the best producer that I know that can¡¦t put two records together ¡V awesome tracking selection though¡¦¡K.. It¡¦s a pity ¡V but at least his a nice guy (met him prior to the Conference) ¡V very down to earth guy
After him came on George Acosta ¡V and what can I say but -the only US dj with an ear for trance¡K..just awesome ¡V not to be missed.
Then came on Tiesto with his skinny-ass dancing moves ¡V what can I say his from Holland so its in his blood to play melodic trance that I love above all ¡V but didn¡¦t hear him enough¡K..the set was ok ¡V nothing compared to what I know what he¡¦s capable of (but it seems he is much like oakie ¡V stuck on a lot of older songs)
And then finally came the topper -what everybody was waiting for
Paul Van Dyk!
When he started spinning ¡V it was precision itself ¡V
Awesome track selection
Not a single fuckup
Pure trance with energy with tech with a bit of house
Just perfect!
Took the bus back to Miami Beach ¡V with some tripped out Latina Miami mammas harassing the local folk¡K was so funny to see (cant be described)
Sunday
Pam Production Artist Management

Got there around 11ish (I think we almost opened the club up)
Artist Lineup
---> Paul Van Dyk (extended set), Scott Bond (came on after PVD spun 2 beautiful trance records ¡V thank god he didn¡¦t just jump into his own style ¡V and then when on his marry housie way ¡V at which point I jump out to the beach[chill out room]),
Markus Schulz(didn¡¦t see him), Jerry Bonham(didn¡¦t see him), Edgar V(didn¡¦t see Him), Icey ( I saw him spin for about 5 minutes before going to the main room to hear God himself), Baby Anne (was on before and she sucked ¡V I hear she is promoted by icey and he produces for her ¡V no use tho¡¦ I didn¡¦t like a single thing she did ¡V I don¡¦t know everybody has an off night I guess) , Duane King (don¡¦t know who this is I didn¡¦t hear him spin ¡V or at least I don¡¦t think I did)
PVD
The god himself:
Here is raven's review from trance addict forum: which i agree with 100%
Paul van Dyk at Space Miami (3/24/02)........WOW!!!!
Well, I just came back from the WMC. Ultra was AWESOME!!!! The whole ezdreamer.com crew (about 24 of us) got there at 2 and we pretty much spent most of the time in the Progressive arena....which surpsingly was the least populated throughout the whole event. fine by me....more room to dance and be a dj whore . The order was all fucked up and a lot of DJ's there were a no show. as a result....Mick Wilson played early and John Graham played for 3 hours......he had the BEST set out of the entire festival. John Graham just blew my mind away dropping a lot of wicked beats and breaks and dark trance and progressive. Max Graham came on next for a brief but bangin' set and then Dave Ralph kept it up with some great progressive trance. Josh Wink then DJ 3 followed and both almost put me to sleep.
I briefly saw Scott Bond who SUCKED my left nut. Briefly saw Alex Gold who was really good. Markus Schultz was AWESOME. I checked out BT for a bit and he trainwrecked every other mix but his track selection was really good. Tiesto was crap. and even PvD who closed the festival was blah to me. I wasn't too moved by his short 50 min set at all. I recorded it on my MD player but it came out a little to bassy.
Sunday night most of us went to PvD at Space. we were the FIRST people to set foot in the door. The opening DJ Jerry Bonham was fucking fantastic. he played just pure dark tech house ala Digweed and you couldn't help but groove to him. The second DJ was a new space resident who was ok at first but his track selection went way downhill as his set progressed.
as for PvD.....I will definitely write a more in depth review later....but for now.......let me just say that I've seen him a total of 19 times now, and this was the BEST set I've EVER heard in my life. He was just AMAZING!
And my review on tranceaddic.com
PVD @ SPACE was one and only most AMAZING musical experience i have ever heared , ever in a club, on MP3s on my computer... or anywhere in any other venue, on any other media.... this was absoFUCKINGlutely the best set of any DJ of all time
if you like electronica then you should consider PVD to be GOD!
nuff said........

So I ended up at this lounge deep with the VIPers
Got there late so didn¡¦t get to hear all the guys spin except Desyn Masiello I hear he¡¦s from London and he has an awesome progressive sound¡K.nice kinda house that I can tolerate¡K he droped U2¡¦s ¡V Lemon ¡V I didn¡¦t even know that song was re-mixed ¡V my absolute favorite by them and this was my favorite track of the entire trip (believe it or not ƒº)
