Question for CDJ DJ's

Ok I have been a Vinyl Dj for some time and want to start using CDJ's I was looking at the CDJ 200's but dont know if i should look at something higher end and invest in something better. What do you suggest. Any assistance is appreciated...

the cdj 800s or cdj 1000s are great the only thing the 200s provide that the 800s or dont is mp3 capability. but the 1000s and 800s are so much better. and provide many more features

I would suggest to use the search button.
There's plenty of information about this.

If you want to scratch get the CDJ-1000
If you don't need to scratch then get CDJ-200

200s, 800s and 1000s all play MP3s these days.

The older models didn't - but the newer ones do.

the 800 and 1000 have extra features, but a much higher price tag. If you don't absolutely need those features, then it's not worth spending that much money for them. In that case there isn't anything more high end than the 200.

I have to disagree. Take away all the 1000s extra features and it still far out performs the 200. I use both regularly. I personally reckon the 200 is a poor performer, especially the quirky pitch resolution.

If you can afford it go for the 1000 - they aren't the professional's choice of CDJ for nothing.

Seeing as how you state you're a vinyl DJ, it's a no-brainer to go with either 800s or 1000s as they have a vinyl emulation mode in addition to the cdj mode. It'll be much more like what you're used to.

Yup since youre coming from vinyl it is imperative that you spend hundreds extra so youll hear a homey slur instead of a stutter while youre cueing up. Not to mention those crappy CDJ200's with their awkward pitch resolution of either .05 or .02. Also, you should not consider theCDJ200 since no international DJ's with practically limitless budgets choose this deck. Yeah man its a no brainer.

I was originally a vinyl DJ but I've always pretty much exclusively used CDJ mode... apart from for scratching/tricks etc

I know there's this tendancy to try and stick to what you're used to, but I'm a firm believer that CDs CAN'T accurately mimick vinyl - in a lot of ways you don't want them to in fact. So don't try... consider them as a completely different piece of kit - like you use your iPod differently from your VCR (if you still use such a thing ) - it still won't take long to pick up because the principles of beatmatching are still exactly the same and that's what takes time when you learn how to mix, not which button does what.

That said, I've just upgraded from the CDJ100s I got years ago to add a CDJ800 alongside them and already I'm noticing more and more things that I'd rather have a CDJ1000 for.

I don't think cdj 800 mk2 has .02 as pitch resolution, CDJ 200 & 1000 has .02

When i played on a cdj 1000 I was surprised how slow it was! I have cdj 200 at my home, ejecting the cd and especially the searching is a lot more faster on a 200!

But however, You just got to love cdj 1000

IMO it goes 1000 > 200 > 800 > 100

this includes price and functionality. I also migrated from vinyl to cd and have used all of these
