What Kind of Music Would You REALLY LikeTo Produce/Play if You Were/Are Producers?

I just thought that it could be kinda cool if everyone posted what kind of music they would really like to play if they were/are musicians/producers. I say were/are because even producers, due to technical, performance or other limitations don't play what they would REALLY like to play. e.g. i know that a famous greek progressive producer would really like to play jazz. Unfortunately he doesn't have the high skill and the equipment for it!Anyway, the question is directed to ALL the people out-there (or in-here).

So, instead of posting single-word answers of genre-names such as "techno" or errmm "trance", or even worst sub-genre names e.g. click/glitch housecore, it would be better to elaborate on the subject e.g. state what sounds or instruments would you use, the subjective qualities of the sound (e.g. melancholic, positivistic, agressive), your influences etc.

In my case, i would really like to play a hybrid of post-rock and ambient, something between, explosions in the sky, M83, God Is An Astronaut, Ulrich Schnauss and Bola, maybe with a slight 80s new-wave/synth-pop influence and a few of Vangelis' cinematics.

Basically i can see it having layers of long quitar and synth lead-lines, emotional reverbed and delayed quitar lines coupled with lush ambient synth textures, maybe assisted by more classical organs such as a violin or a cello. I would really like it to have a typical build-explode(crescendo)-slowdown structure like exlposions in the sky tracks. Also, a kind of repetetive drumming could be cool. This would give a more primal, tribal feel to the overall sound. Of course ,drums would follow the build-ups and the melodies not the opposite. I would really like it to be largely instrumental and hence vocal-free, although some female angelic vocals saying non-sense (e.g. like Cocteau Twins) would be cool in some tracks.

The subjective qualities would transcend melancholic (but not depressive), nostalgic and in a few times, more positivistic emotional qualities, although i would really like it to have a slight "mystical" feel at times (e.g. Enigma, Amethystium, Dead Can Dance), without becoming new-age and meditative. Thats it really. Feel free to post whatever you like!

(p.s. Unfortunately i don't have the knowledge, the skill or the equipment to do it!)

(p.s.2 I hope this thread belongs here and not to the COR. Lol)

Ok, cool, so is it like the 98-99 uplifting trance sound? What are your influences? Airwave, Thrillseekers, Sean Tyas...?

i'd love to make a hybrid of psy & old-style trance, mainly with the production standards/synths/percussion you get in today's regular uplifting/tech trance. it would be quite driving, sometimes almost veering into the 'hard' territory with thundering basslines & killer acids.. there would be melodies, but without much emphasis on chord changes, and there would be loads of atmospheric pads & sound effects creating a kinda hypnotic vibe. breakdowns would also be fairly minimal. i'd also love to rip every single synth sound from astral projection - 'anything is possible' and use them wherever possible

i produce melodic epic at the moment but i'm trying to move away from it.. the above is ultimately my goal

when i did dabble with production, i'd have kept with what i had, a lot of 303s & so on, however I'd have worked out how to add a melody on top to make it into a nice goa tune at times rather than something which was quite flat.

If there was one track that would some up what kind of music I'd like to make, it would be the album version of Leftfield's Song Of Life. If there were two, the other would be Paul Van Dyk's Beautiful Place. What I like about Song Of Life is how it has a really strong and epic melody that is simultaneously quite simple and subtle, and it marries that to strong synths that power the track forwards. Beautiful Place is similar- there's some very beautiful pianos in there, but the dancefloor parts of the track are driven by synth riffs and chord progression. And then there's the ambient intro to Song Of Life.

Essentially, what I like is very lush soundscapes and powerful, delicate melodies that might otherwise dominate a track, and toning them down and building them around futuristic synth symphonies. My tracks would be long as a general rule, but that time wouldn't be dominated by endless loops and slow hypnotism as layers build up. My tracks would be ever-changing and built around distinct phases that interlock and reference each other- much like Orbital structure their records and albums, which they took from the rave scene.

I'd also like to alternate between rhythmic templates- going through four-on-the-floor and different breaks, even within tracks. I wouldn't be afraid of having long ambient sections, often where the melody occurs, but once the beats have kicked in the priority would be to maintain the movement in some form.

I suppose the simplest way of putting it would be to imagine a genetic splice of BT's Ima, Orbital's Brown Album and Leftfield's Leftism, with a bit of Enigma's Cross of Changes thrown in.

If I could find a way to combine the sounds of the likes of Charlie May and Lemon Jelly - I'd be producing the kinds of records I'm dying to play, and that I don't feel anyone else is doing a satisfactory job of producing.

I like to try a little bit of everything, though I'm doing mostly melodic breaks and darkish trance. However, lately I've been doing 100-120bpm downbeat stuff.

I find the EDM/trance single-based format very restricting and try to break it whenever I can, so I'm not going to be expecting a lot of DJ support...

Progressive house with a melodic but funky influence. I like my music to have a degree of deepness to it but at the same time It needs to have melody and warmth.
