A bit of a laugh "Evidence for Creationism"

High points include "there was ice suspended above the eart" "there was water below the crust" and my fav "the average age before the flood was 900 years old". Oh and near the start when he says "national pornographic" instead of "national geographic"...

I think I preferred this one as a better description of why creation is the better argument. It involves 2 men, a banana... its worksafe but for some reason has me in peels uh, crying in laughter everytime I watch it...

I always laugh at the banana one. He is so completely oblivious that the modern Cavendish banana is the result of centuries of selective breeding. Natural, god-made bananas have huge seeds, arent tasty at all (think plantains), and arent very productive.

The guy giving the lecture (Kent Hovind) is in jail now:

quote:
A newly remorseful Pensacola evangelist, who still disputes the government's right to make him pay taxes, was sentenced Friday afternoon to 10 years in prison on federal tax charges.

His wife, Jo, will be sentenced March 1 on charges of evading bank-reporting requirements.

Before his sentencing, a tearful Kent Hovind compared his situation to that of the lion and the mouse in Aesop's Fables.

"I feel like the mouse," Hovind told U.S. District Judge Casey Rodgers. "I stand here in great fear of the power of this court. Your decision can destroy my life, my ministry and my grandchildren."

[...]

In November, a jury found Kent Hovind guilty on 58 federal counts, including failure to pay $845,000 in employee-related taxes. Jo Hovind was convicted of 44 of the counts that involved evading bank-reporting requirements.

Jo Hovind's sentencing was postponed by Rodgers to allow defense and prosecution attorneys to argue sentencing guidelines.

Kent Hovind, owner of Creation Science Evangelism and Dinosaur Adventure Land on North Palafox Street in Pensacola, has maintained he owes no taxes because everything he owns belongs to God.

Someone posted this in COR. Flat earth theory proponents. Equally funny.

Sample FAQ

quote:

Q: "Why doesn't water run off the Earth?"

A: There is a vast ice wall that keeps the water where it is. The ice wall is roughly 150ft high. This also explains why you can find a vast plane of ice when you travel south.

Antarctica as a continent does not exist.

Q: "What about the stars, sun and moon and other planets? Are they flat too? What are they made of?"

A: The sun and moon, each 32 miles in diameter, circle Earth at a height of 3000 miles at its equator, located midway between the North Pole and the ice wall. Each functions similar to a "spotlight," with the sun radiating "hot light," the moon "cold light." As they are spotlights, they only give light out over a certain are which explains why some parts of the Earth are dark when others are light. Their apparent rising and setting are caused by optical illusions.

In the "accelerating upwards" model, the stars, sun and moon are also accelerating upwards.

The stars are about as far as San Francisco is from Boston. (3100 miles)

It's so tempting to sign up there and terrorise the natives... but I think they've got enough lunatics there to keep themselves amused without another one.
They probably make you drill out all your teeth too before joining.

I'm a Christian, but creationism irritates me.

One of the best ones I read was that Noah's flood was able to happen because the earth stopped rotating its axis and the water was jogged out of the sea and flooded the land.

Creationists become unstuck - especially when you point out to them that there are TWO creatioon stories in Genesis. Ever realised that before?

There's a word that sums up this sort of behaviour, and that word is 'reject.'

First begins at Genesis 1:1, second begins at Genesis 2:4. They're quite easy to distinguish because the first account uses the word "Elohim" (translated in most English bibles as "God") where as the second account, which was actually written hundreds of years earlier, uses the word "YHWH" (translated in most English bibles as "The LORD"). Go see for yourself.
