Video Convert (AVI)

Hey sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong section but does anyone know any good AVI compressor or converter programs? I used Sony Vegas to make a AVI video that is about 3 min long and the size of that thing is 500MB... i try to convert it with this one program to make it no more then 40MB but it come out to be 5GB...

download virtual dub and then an h264 and mp3 encoder (eg lame), then just convert it there

My thought exactly. You can make it a 256kbps bitrate and up. Consult the documentation, unless you just downloaded and used a crack. That program isnt a throw things together in 2 minutes and make something nice.
