yo man, this is what its like for me: I am 6'4 okay. I spend 7 hours a day in desks that are just a tad bit too small for me, not good on the back. Then i go to work for about 6 hours, and I work at a retail store folding clothes on tables that are a foot too short... also hard on the back, and then i come home and sit in a folding poker table chair and practice my music, times this by atleast 5 days a week.. its a never ending cycle of pain. i need to get my parents to buy me like a fuxxing recliner so im not a hunchback by the time i get out of the house. the world is not built for people over 6ft tall! hahaha

so yes, i would like to hear an answer as well.

I have much the same problem. The thing is, I think my chair is comfortable, but since my ass is bonier than a 12-year-old at a strip club, I can't tell. I need some heavy duty padding down there or I begin to get really sore.

My seat is only $100 but it's really comfortable. You don't need to spend heaps, you just need to find something that is comfortable for you. Make sure it's a high back though and has arm rests.

i've been in some studios where people use trackball mice and others who sit on one of those excercise balls. i personally would like a coke fountain next to my studio so i wouldn't have to get up all the time.

At the moment I have a semi-cheap full back armchair from Amart (kinda like a furniture-only Walmart). I've just put a shiatsu massage attachment on it and loving it!

This may sound kinda cheap but, have you considered checking out a used office supply warehouse?
They have a much larger variety mainly because they're not dedicated to any specific brands.

I found my computer chairs at one of these stores on a whim after going to a ton of different shops and coming home empty handed.

I found 3 very nice, next to new chairs, all of them extremely comfortable, all of them have pneumatic seat height adjustment, they're ergonomically correct, as I said before, they're all in excellent condition etc etc etc and I purchased all 3 for around $50.00

What's funny is I recently bought my wife an office chair for her computer from a retail store, I payed $300. for it and she hates it, it's extremely uncomfortable and rigid, she keeps stealing my favorite chair.

Anyway, just a thought.

I bought a $200 ergonomic chair. My ass and back used to hurt all the time from sitting down all day. But not anymore! Not with my $200 ERGONOMIC CHAIR!

It didnt come with free steak knives though.

I've been using a $60 Office Depot Cloth covered chair for some time now. It's got good padding in the seat, so I'm properly postured when I'm sitting. That helps a lot.

The funny thing is, I had a nice leather office chair that was twice as expensive and stood up pretty well for about a year. Then the cushioning in the seat started to wear and it put my back in a funny position, so I ditched that chair for the cheaper cloth covered chair and its lasted almost 5 years.

I agree with Fledz that you need to make sure it has a high back and armrests, that makes a world of difference.

I can sit in that chair for hours, but I get up every hour or two to smoke. I think it's important get up and walk around for at least 5 minutes every hour or so to give your muscles an opportunity to stretch and keep you from sitting for too long. I can produce for hours this way.
