Help with my new DAW
Hi
I have a question concerning hard-drives. Im about to put together my new DAW, and I bought a 320Gb 7200rpm HD. But I read in several articles that it would be best to have 2 HDs, one for the OS + softwares, and the other for all the audio data. And I also read that 7200rpm is the minimum velocity for working with audio. Now here are my questions:
1) What HDs size are the ideal for OS+softwares / audio data?
2) Pretending I have 2 HDs, one with 7200rpm speed and the other with 10000rpm, wich one should I use for holding the OS+softwares, and wich one for audio data?
3) I also read that its a good thing to have removable HDs for holding audio data, so you have easy access if using another DAW. If I go this route, is there anything I should be aware of?
I also have a 512Mb PCI-Express Video Graphics Card, but Ive been told that is actually best to have a simpler Video Card if working exclusively with audio. So 2 more questions:
4) I now audio softwares dont need complex Video cards, but would it decrease my DAW´s performace if I use it?
5) I also heard that if I use the AGP slot on my mother-board to connect my Video card, is best not to use the first or last PCI slot for connecting my audio interface, to avoid compatibility issues. Is it also true if using PCI-Express slots?
Thanks a lot everyone, and Im really sorry for my bad english. Hope you guys understands what Im asking lol ..thanks again
