there have always been a lot of vocal tracks, but in the past they were done better, and a lot of those who did do them were specialists at getting the vocals to fit, eg space brothers/chakra/lustral as a perfect example of well done vocal tunes. Now also a lot of labels throw them onto a song which was fine to begin with to create a more mass appeal, thus commercialising it. It might sell a bit more to some kids who have no clue, but those who liked the track before may not buy it unless there's an instrumental to help them.

I miss good vocal tracks such as Cass & Slide - Perception (New Vocal Mix). Any vocal track done today is utter gash compared to that one.

i gave up on vocals after holding onto nothing, which had huge sing-along possibilities and was fun. Since then, the best vocal tunes i've heard have all been proggy stuff (not the schulz prog though)
eg.

ryhian sheehan ft jess chambers - hiding place (antix remix)
and the sub6 ft michele adamson - 7th son (ticon remix) is also nice.
