Easter is a pagan religious holiday following the Spring Equinox, there's nothing Christian about it. Eostre (or Eastre), the name being derived from the word for spring, was the great mother goddess of the Saxons in Northern Europe. It a fertility ritual. which is where you get those eggs from.

I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to prove. A holiday has as much meaning as what you put into it. If you celebrate easter as a Christian holiday, then that is exactly what it is. What the day was before it was celebrated as easter has nothing to do with what is being observed now.

July 4th, 836 was Pactum Sicardi, designating peace between the Principality of Benevento and the Duchy of Naples. Does that mean Americans aren't really celebrating their independence on the July 4th holiday? May 1st (May Day) has all sorts of different meanings to different people.

In the end a holiday is what you see it as, not what it is seen as by others or by those in the past.

Well, I wasn't necessarily trying to "prove" anything, but it should be obvious from my previous post.
