Ethernet troubles

For some reason, the icon on the bottom right corner of XP next to the clock indicating that my ethernet cable has been unplugged keeps popping up. Then it goes away after literally 1.5 seconds. During that 1.5, I get kicked off the Playstation Network, booted off Xbox Live, or the web page I'm trying to load stops loading (to which I have to Refresh immediately afterwards, since for some reason the connection fixed itself). Whats the deal, any ideas?

Try updating or reloading your NIC driver.

Based on what he said it's more likely a problem with his ISP, modem, or router, since everything gets kicked off and not just his computer.

Try resetting the router and modem (most likely through a reset button on the hardware) and see if that works, if it doesn't, try giving your ISP a call and see if they know whatsup.

You may need to check the 10/100 and half duplex/full duplex setting of you NIC. They should be set to the same settings of your DSL router/switch.

I would try replacing the cat5 cable itself. If the wiring degrades a intermittent connection can result.
