Progressive Rock in the Present
Has anyone noticed the kind of sound that's dominating the progressive rock scene lately? Very epic, high echo and reverb stuff, slow tempos, mogwai-ish.
Examples:
Red Sparrows
Mono
Air Formation
Lots of others...
Really depressing sorts of shit, but some of it's nice.

Same here. I actually recognised NONE of those bands mentioned
When I think of prog rock, I think 70s Pink Floyd etc.

If you don't recognize any of the groups, Mogwai is a great place to start (they're hard not to like). Another name for this sort of thing is 'post-rock'.

My internet download limit is close to empty for this month, and gets re-set in a few days (Australian ISPs are so very, very lame!), so I might go check a few of them out. Always happy to listen to new stuff

Come on Die Young and Mr. Beast are both pretty excellent.
