How many of you go out to clubs?

Just wondering if, and how often, you all still go out to clubs to see big DJ's?

Eg. once or twice a year or whatever...

(I'm not talking about regular nights but specifically when bigger DJ's appear)

I'm making the prediction that those of you who don't like the more mainstream EDM (eg. trance) will be the ones who don't go out that much.

I am into all genres of EDM although I don't like trance as I used to back in the day and even though I don't listen to it I do go for the company to some big name DJ events cuz my friends drag me, but otherwise I really club a lot mostly hitting the house and tribal events in the clubs.

if their music doesn't get played much in clubs then it's not hard to understand why

i don't get out as much as i used to due to money reasons. but i'd say on average twice every 3 months

I sure hope you don't have to make a living out of predicting stuff.

I guess what I was trying to get at is that I think people, myself included, tend to get caught up in the music we listen to a lot at home - which is usually a bit more laid back and more interesting than trance - which means that we judge trance from this perspective. Thus, to a degree, we critice trance, especially modern trance which is so based on being dance floor friendly, unfairly. A lot of today's trance I think you probably have to hear live to appreciate but instead people judge it from the viewpoint of what they would like to listen to at home.

This is not to say that modern trance has not become too big kick orientated or that there is not too much crap out there.

I'm lucky enough that I travel around the globe seasonally and try and visit whatever the big clubs are in the cities I happen to be in. That said, usually every weekend I find myself in clubs like Luxy, MoS, Vertigo, Pacha, and so on. Actually I'll be visiting Womb in Tokyo next week which should be fun (first time).

I don't think all those huge breakdowns and country-emo singalongs are dancefloor oriented. Actually, the majority of older (90s) trance was much more dance-friendly than the latest productions.
