On a personal level I don't think the genre exists. The word electro has been beaten up and tossed around like some old rag doll. The Ferry examples posted above sound like a bad attempt at trancey pop music plus all of those tracks have a 4/4 dance beat and not the traditional electro rhythm with the exception of Junk.
Now the sample posted below is electro. But first a little background on the track. It's actually a cross between italo disco and electro, but the producer did a great job of incorporating both influences beautifully.
