[REVIEW] PVD In Between

pvd new artist album is fucking awesome! classic pvd with some really great bangin emotional tracks. also some great remix material, i can't wait for some of these tracks to get remixed. this cd succeeds where tiesto's elements of life failed. several tracks really stand out on this cd:
3.sabotage
4.complicated f ashley tomberlin
5.get back f ashley tomberlin (awesome hard hitting beat in this one, with some really melodic breakdowns-this track almost falls into complete silence in some places and then builds back up again and starts pounding it)
6.far away (pvd and giuseppe ottaviani? need i say more?)
7.another sunday (BEST TRACK ON THIS CD! he's been playing this track at his shows since last year, and i've been trying to figure out what it was for so long! he sampled the vocal from hammer and funabashi's "she blows my mind" but this track is 100x better! absolutely amazing!)
9.in circles (pvd really knows how to play the piano. nuff said, amazing piano track)
10.in between (short track but feels like a classic)
12.detourment (combined with a hard hitting beat this track has some really nice violins towards the end)
13.new york city f ashely tomberlin (this is an intense track with a somewhat dramatic effect and lots of energy and some nice buildups)
14.la dolce vita (sounds like a classic pvd track ala "for an angel")
15.let go f rea (nice soothing breakbeat track)

i don't usually like vocal trance, but pvd really knows how to pull it off in most tracks. there are also a few tracks on this cd which sound a little bit like rock and roll mixed with trance, and most of the male vocals on this cd kinda suck. not really my style, but overall this cd is HOT, a lot of tracks which are bound to become pvd classics.

Thumbs down

This album further reinforces how sad modern trance has become. PVD has finally succeeded in crossing the Oakey/Tiesto threshold and selling out every good production technique that founded his Out There and Back, signature style. There's nothing on this record that presents any sort of thoughtful idea, or instills any sense of inspiration or optimism that perhaps, someone of this reputation might attempt to cling to even an ounce of old school charm, wisdom, or heart.

So I say to you PVD: You've finally shown the world that the young, idealistic East German visionary that worked so hard to bring quality dance music to the world has finally sold his soul to the major label money machine.

Trance's chosen Son is now nothing more than a Sheep, whom even his own shadow should shun in shame.

Amazing how people are hated on for evolving. I wish Its a Fine Day and Sand Storm would be remixed every year but do not use any new production techniques or writing style.

And yes having a dream and achieving it is selling out.

lol. So, I guess us folk that don't like everything from everyone all the time want to kill ourselves huh. What a presumptive, depraved twat you are to make light of people who honestly do live in a world of pain and eventually take their own life.

I my friend, am quite pleased with my current life and the accomplishments of years past. PVD was the man that started it all for me and my years and countless hours of listening devotion have earned me the right to speak my thoughts of him.

After all, this IS a review thread

Maybe it is YOU that is projecting this inner emptiness with their own life

If you can modern trance a forward evolution, i think Darwin wants to have a word with you.

And no, having a dream and achieving it isn't selling out, but the eventual abandonment of artistic integrity and cultural relevance is.

cheers mate

well written, in a poetic way. however i strongly disagree. he hasn't strayed much from his old style, unlike others such as tiesto. he sticks with what works.
