so there has been a shit load of remikes/remakes of older "anthems" of late and i dont think its going to slow down anytime soon, so do you like them?
eg:
richard durand- born slippy 2007
vincent de moor- fly away (2007 remixes)
Wink- Higher State of Consciousness(2007)
Bedrock - Heaven Scent (Greg Downey Remix)

as a general rule i think they should be left alone. Some remakes have been pretty good, but as a general rule they suck ass.

the only reason tyas is ok is he has chosen a lot of good songs to remix. i dont think he adds anything special to them.
not sure ive heard any on that list, unless armin or bexta played the greg downey remix. i think classics are classics for a reason, and its pretty hard to add anything to them and make them better.

what if he brings the tune to the newer generations of music lovers, is that not a good thing.

i dont judge music like that. i just judge it by whether i like it or not.

yeah i agree.. if he wanted to present it to new music lovers whats to stop them playing the originals.. its not like the kids can't handle the oldschool tunes in their original form, they arent from the 50's ffs.

If they bring a new production technique or style to the tune fair enough. However if it's just a remake of an old song because if it has the bigname Djs label on it it must be good philosophy then that's bad.

cosmic gate did a pretty mad job i reckon: mad choon
i reckon remixes are alright if they sound good: it's not like a remix/remake replaces the original: you like the original, just keep listening to it
I think remixes can be pretty sweet sometimes... but then, i havn't had much sleep

i think most of the time they are done by producers to put "their touch" on tunes so that they fit into their sets and their style better.
for example tyas playing the original children in a set wouldnt really sound right but his remix sounds alright.
when remixes are done in that regard im fine with it but when they are done with minimal changes to the track and are just used to gain exposure for the remixer its pretty crap
