You're writing a new track and then you get stuck? This seems to happen to me a lot and I try to do different things that might make me think differently. I really like to skateboard and that kinda inspires me to get back on it. Sometimes I just leave the song alone for like 2 days and then when I come back I have fresh new ideas.
What do you guys do?

i just sit and loop a section until i hear in my head where to go next.
Failing that, i just walk away and forget about it. Maybe come back days later and make a totally new tune and never finish the other one.

remember/write what key the project is in.
Go skateboarding/driving/freebasing (not really, or if that's your shtick ?)
Open a new project and create some 2/4/8/16 bar independent loops in the key of your original. That is, if you didn't forget it, or loose the paper you wrote it down on while you were freebasing, you drug junkie.
See if they fit in with your original project.

Also learn some new sound techniques with your current synths/new synths.
I walk away from it. Or listen to a song for some inspiration. I do the same as the-sixth. I'll start a song get stuck close it then i'll be sitting there ooo i got an idea for a song, then repeat. Though mine is on a massive scale. I have 2 project folders all together there is over 280 projects. Less than 25 are probably completed.

if i get stuck with a project, i usually delete all my patterns. and start building the song again with the same melodies, percs, fx, etc..
