Smiley DJ looking for advice about software for mixing

Hello everyone, I know nothing about DJing. I am looking for software for the computer that works with mp3s, does more than just change tempo, volume and speaker. Maybe you know a program I can use for a short while before I have to buy it. I would like not to spend more than $50 US.
Thank you

Of course something that has trance tracs, beats or sounds would be the best.

I'd say the best program for learning is AtomixMP3 - it's not the best for an experienced DJ, it's more geared towards beginners, but it does have some serious features... It's 60$ to purchase, which is quite affordable compared to others.

also check out: traktor, BPM studio, and virtual turntables.

Smiley DJ Thanx again

All the above list are very good, however I am looking forward to digital turntables and yesterday for $18 at Office Depot called MAGIX PlayerR Jukebox XXL I think it can do anything with many sample sounds to add to your songs, it also lets you add videos to the trac and it comes with a nice instruction booklet.

oh man i looked into that atomix mp3 thing and that thing has an automatic beat matcher wtf...if you want to learn how to spin you need to learn how to beat match..! not have some software program do it for you! also when looking into buying software, you should get a program that will allow you to listen to the second track you are about to spin and a pitch leveler...i tried virtual turntables and uhhh...i give it a 2 thumbs down and 2 big toes down...you cant listen to the other track! wtf? you use it to a certain degree then you chuck it into your trash can cuz ITS NOT REAL MIXING...=P

That is a good thing about MAGIX PlayerR Jukebox XXL its has both automatic and manual beat matching. To get something to sound decent it sure is difficult. Also it allows you to listen to the second and other tracks on the playlist also has a pitch and tempo leveler. I agree with the virtual turntable hopefully audio turntable is different. With MAGIX PlayerR Jukebox XXL there is so many buttons to hit and turn and match. Needs a lot of practice. My first attempt was to trance an Enya song, it sounds like shit. I can't find how to loop a rhythm or sound yet.

i beg to differ, you CAN listen to the other song in your headphones with the other song playing, u just need to buy one of those audiodoohickey things (a channel splitter) which dont cost much at all... bout $8 Aus... $4 US?

as far as realism is concerned, i dont think u can do much better than VTT (for the time being) with regards to computer software. you beatmatch the songs yourself, BUT there is the option given to you where it calculates the % pitch changed needed to match the incoming track to the song playing... (altho ive never used this, so i cant comment on how reliable it is)

it aint vinyl, but as far as technique is concerned, its fairly similar to djing with cds

very true that atomixmp3 does auto match... but if you do everything manually, (turn off the auto pitch, auto beatmatch, and auto pitch reset) you can listen which watching, dragging the beats with the mouse, and get an idea of what beatmatching sounds like, while seeing the waveform display... doing this for quite some time made beatmatching on tables quite easy to pick up... my third day on vynil I was able to actually beatmatch just about any two records
