I’m putting together a set of songs I want to play at this party coming up in a few weeks, and I ran across one I’d really like an ID on. Its kinda older, but I figure if anyone can help out with a track ID, it’s one of you guys.

Dj Doran is spinning in the morning at the Dune desert party just outside Mecca, CA in 1997. I was actually AT that party. It was my first BIG desert party when I had just starting going to those types of things back in 1997. Boy do I look at that video now days, and think back to how much experiences like that, took my life in a whole different direction. As they say… “good times, good times”.

Sorry, don't know the tune.

Just wanted to say thanks for the video. Really good memories. Funny to see all the dirt start kicking up once the peak of a tune hits, lol.

The tune you're looking for is pretty massive, I'd like to know it myself. Also, if the set you're going to play is the same style, I'd like a copy if you're going to record it .

I’m not sure if this is one of the songs you’re trying to ID on that vid you posted… but I do know one of the songs. So just in case, I wanted to ID it.

At 5:36 in, (and through the end of the vid), the song that is playing is “Resonance” by Magic Alec.

It was a song Christopher Lawrence dropped all the time back then. It was pretty huge. Its song #5 on Christopher’s, mix cd from 1997 titled “Rise”. You can find it on Amazon and stuff.

I absolutely LOVED that song. To this day, my friends still tease me sometimes about “song number five”… because for so many years I would just go ape shit whenever it got played anywhere.


One of my best friends gave it to me on vinyl one morning at a party… even though it was way out of print by then. Its such a perfect example of good-ol “progressive trance”. Add a layer, add a layer, add a layer.

Anyway, for those who weren’t there that night, you see in the video towards the end there, where you can see a few people up on the surrounding mountains holding red flares? There were about 10-15 of them all around the dance floor, and they all lit their flares together. The whole place lit up red, like we were on another planet or something. I still get chills thinking about it. *sigh*


Anyway… still no ID on that song I was originally looking for. Doh! Oh well, the party isn’t until Memorial Day weekend, so I’ve still got some time.

Doh...have that CD. Shoulda known .
