DJ equipement on the beach

my friends and I are organizing an event on the beach this summer.

this year I was thinking about bringing my turntables as well as cdjs + mixer. after second thoughts I'm wondering if this is such a good idea.. with all the sand that will be in the air, is it going to be really bad for the TTs/mixer/CDJs?

any of you had any broken/malfunctioning equipement due to some sand in it ? I'm thinking about renting, would it be better ?

peace

my guess would be that sand is dj equipments worst enemy. if sand gets anywhere near the lenses...

i would rent, or set it up to make SURE no one can accidentally kick up a bit of sand and have it blow all over your equip.

You might what 2 think about a strong pergola tent 2 stop the wind and it will shade your vinyl so it does not warp, im sure you could hire one from a bride service etc they would prob set it up for you.

That's a vid of me from a beach even last weekend, although it was raised up on a stage. There was still lots of wind and I did have to blow some sand specks off the gear here and there. I'd definitely recommend having a screen around your table like I had in the vid to at least block the direct blowing of sand on to your gear.
A dude came on after me with Vinyl and Serato and did fine as well.
