Kit Phillips - Breaking Down (08 Remake) 192 Kbps

Hey all,

Some of you will remember my track "Breaking Down" which I was quite pround of. I thought I'd fix a few of its idiosyncrasies, originally to make it easier for others to remix, but eventually it got quite a lot of restructuring.

Its nearly finished now, I'm just going to redo the vocals (hopefully soon) so they're not so cheesy and it'll be done.

Any feedback you have time for is always appreciated.

Cheers
Kit

PS
I AM working on a new album (as advertised in my signature) I was hoping to have it done a couple of months ago, but uni's been a bit out of hand lately so I'm not sure when it'll be done now.

Listening.

Hmm.. putting a cymbal as snare, not sure if i like the sound of that.

Nice guitar..

Vocals ? hmm.. yeah.. the vocals arent bad.. but it could be better mixed into the track as they seem very loud. But the actuall singing sounds good to me.

I like the snare at 3-4 minutes into, adds energy to the track.

But overall i think the vocals are too loud, and the percussions could be improved. But the guitar sounds great.

yeah, not sure about that cymbal myself. nice work on the vocals and guitar, work a bit on the kick "punch", add some percussions in the tune aswell, that cymbal is getting kind of annoying after a while. other then that its a cool tune, but either turn down the volume of the vocals a bit, or turn up the rest of the track, try and get some more low end in the tune to. keep up the good work.

the vocals... compress and eq out the mid basses... cool guitar, but i feel like your off beat sometimes, the vocal or the guitar... and there is a dissonant sounds in the background which is quite annoying...

i would preffer a more rocky production of that... if you need some real bass bassline pm me...

Great feedback guys thanks alot I'll iron out all those flaws with the vocals when I actually re record them, listening to it back they do definately seem a bit loud

Vortex: Are the disssonant sounds the FM sounding ones? I'll have a look at that and maybe turn it down, I do want to keep some sort of shimmering element to it but they might be a bit too loud. And if your interested I'm putting together a remix for someone else, so I can send one your way too if you'd like to have a fiddle with it and add some of that beeeeef I'm trying to keep this version a bit sort of soft, but not as chilled as the original, so I don't want to make the bass too monstrous.

Is the snare in the breakdown OK? I assume your talking about the cymbal at the beginning being annoying? I'll look at that.

Thanks again for the feedback

I've totally finished it now, I redid the vocals, added a bit more percussion and did a quick (most likely inadequate) bit of mastering.
Hopefully should be finished for good now
If anyone wants remix packs or 320Kb/s versions then send me a message and I'll oblige, to the people I've promised remix packs to; they should be ready in a few days.
Thanks to everyone who's listened, and extra thanks to those of you who commented.
